I’m not one to turn down an adventure, but let it be known, there is only one person I would willingly place my lonesome self in the open lands of Alaska to hide in a bush and capture a surprise proposal for – and that’s my little brother.

It’s been a whirlwind of a summer for my family this year, and while my brother was in the weeds plotting out his big move to Alaska, we all knew he wouldn’t be gone long without asking Aubrey to marry him.

They had a wedding date set, he had a custom ring in the making, but when he would propose was still a great mystery to the rest of us! Until I got the phone call.

Beau had just been dropped off at the DFW airport and called me once he got through security,

“Alright, now that I’m finally away from Aubrey, I can plan this proposal… can I fly you in next weekend?”

I laughed because those two are glued at the hip, and we knew we had to move fast. Aubrey would be flying into Kenai, Alaska just a few days after he arrived!

We pulled it off without a hitch, and it was a sweet memory I know we will carry for years to come.

Beau, Aubrey, and I all grew up together, and watching them fall in love has been full of joy, grief, and lots of hope as our families have navigated life together over the years.

I’m thankful for a soon-to-be sister-in-love who has been mistaken as my blood sister for as long as I can remember. And I am beyond excited for them as they begin their marriage adventure!
